Pakistan – An eye opener

When Pakistan banned its free access to internet I personally felt shocked and ashamed that how can a country have people who celebrate the censorship of free media. It was quite strange the way people reacted as it was the only country in the world to act this way. There has to be something going wrong in here.  I set out to analyse the stats of Pakistan as compared to the rest of the world and the results were predictable

Quality of life index

An indicator that ranks countries on the basis of

  1. Health
  2. Family life
  3. Community life
  4. Material well-being
  5. Political stability and security
  6. Climate and geography
  7. Job security
  8. Political freedom
  9. Gender equality

Rank of pakistan = 93/111

Literacy Rate

Again shameful yet predictable

Pakistan’s rank = 160/177

Unemployment Rate

Pakistan 15.2 %

World rank 153/200

1 being the country with lowest rate of unemployment

Inflation

Pakistan’s rank = 211/222

Subjective Well Being

Corruption

Corruption is only a repercussion of the current condition of Pakistani society. It would be racist to say that it is its inherent nature

Corruption Perceptions Index 134/180

A Failed State

Failed States Index ranks pakistan 10/177. It is an indicator of lack of control of a government upon its people or the absence of a sustainable system to operate a country.

An interesting thing is that even countries even U.S. and U.K. have only been ranked moderately sustainable, however Denmark, Norway, finland, Canada, countries  which have a predominantly unbiased population having no particular belief system have fared better and have been categorized as sustainable.

Press Freedom

Do I have to say anything about it? The recent bans speak volumes about it..

And Now The Most Sexually Frustrated

“Google, the world’s most popular Internet search engine, has found in a survey that mostly Muslim states seek access to sex-related websites and Pakistan tops the list”

Where are the religious fanatics now? Want to say anything Maulana?

Satisfaction With Life

And still you wonder why Pakistanis are generally a depressed and dissatisfied nation?

Satisfaction with life index = Pakistan overall ranking 166

Possible Reasons

Who is responsible? Ask a Sindhi, he’ll say Punjabi. Ask a civilian he’ll say the military. Ask the Maulana, he will say the Zionists and the america.

But perhaps the best logical way would be to compare ourselves to the nations who are faring better than us. The bad news for the Maulana is that the country that topped the Satisfaction with life index was Denmark.

Now the danes and other Scandinavian nations are neither Christians nor are they Jews. This would perhaps ease the Maulana. And Denmark perhaps has the best social system, even better than U.S.

The question is, is man really flexible enough to adopt to a pattern that clearly yields better results. The answer.. It takes time.

The internet is the only way that can propel the mindset of this region. Yet this race is bent upon destroying its only source of salvation.

Overall I know the world is heading in a better direction and either you are on the ship or you are off it it’s your choice..
